TIERRA VERDE COMMUNITY NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM

The Tierra Verde Community is a member of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Neighborhood Watch Program.  This program is comprised of two important elements:  the “Sheriff’s Watch” Information System and the volunteer neighborhood watch communications network.  The “Sheriff’s Watch” Information System is a computerized auto-dialer and telephone bulletin board administered by the Crime Prevention Unit.  The auto-dialer capability is used to broadcast information to residences and businesses in Pinellas County. It is also used to alert Neighborhood Watch Groups of crimes or suspicious activities, lost children or missing persons, and localized evacuations.

The “Sheriff’s Watch” Information System bulletin board capability allows citizens of Pinellas County to access information regarding crime statistics, Neighborhood Watch information, as well as other useful information.  In addition to listening to the various voice listings, a “FAX-on-demand” option allows a copy of the crime statistics to be sent to your FAX machine.  Access to the bulletin board is gained via telephone by calling 588-4777.

The Tierra Verde Neighborhood Watch Program is alerted by the “Sheriff’s Watch” Information System, which can call up to 1200 residences an hour.  Your neighbors on the “Sheriff’s Watch” Information System have volunteered to receive the alerts, which may occur at any hour of the day or night.  The neighbors need only answer the phone, listen to the message and follow the instructions, if any.  Only alerts of an “in-progress” level are conducted during the late night to early morning hours.  Those alerts not requiring immediate broadcast are done at reasonable hours for informational purposes.
